Try fishing for free with your library card!

We're excited to announce that we're a part of the TackleShare Program, giving new and young anglers the opportunity to go fishing at no cost!

Visit the Downtown branch (60 Worsley St.) to sign out a rod and reel and an assortment of tackle the same way you would borrow library books. It's a great way to get some time in the outdoors while learning a new skill. Head down to the beach or dock and enjoy some quality time with your family!

Fishing gear will be available throughout the summer.

'Learn to Fish' Event

Want to learn the basics of fishing to give you a head start? Join us at our 'Learn to Fish' event in June!

Thursday, June 16 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm
Downtown Branch
Ages 4 - 17

Featuring both theoretical and practical based learning, attendees will learn about the Library's new TackleShare program, why fishing is fun, fishing safety, orientation of fishing equipment, how to set-up a fishing rod, how to tie a knot and how to cast. We'll end the program with a fun and friendly casting contest! Please register online so we make sure we have enough supplies!

This 'Learn to Fish' event is being offered in partnership with the Barrie Bassmasters Club
