What is a Pow Wow? Storytelling with Lisa Newman

Pow Wows are the First Nation’s way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships, and making new ones. There are several different stories of how the pow wow was started. Some believe that the War dance Societies of the Ponca and other Southern Plains Tribes were the origin of the pow wow. Come listen to Lisa, Aboriginal Coordinator from the Ontario Early Years Centre, tell you the story of the Pow Wow’s, the Dance, the Regalia and the Drum and why it very important to the Pow Wow.
Hope to see you on the weekend!
